why is my steam downloading so slow

Steam is a digital distribution, digital rights management, multiplayer and communications platform developed by Valve Corporation. Steam provides the user with installation and automatic updating of games from the service's catalog onto the user's computer. Steam also offers an online gaming social networking service, called Steam Friends. You can improve your download speeds if you have a fast internet connection speed coming into your house which is rated at 50mbps or more for example so that less data gets used in our home network when you are downloading games through steam on PC or Mac. You should also see about getting a [better quality] internet service provider for example if you are buying your internet from Time Warner or Comcast or AT&T, or whatever your service provider is and the speeds that they are advertising are very much lower than what you actually get on their speed tests then you should just change ISP until you find one that actually works well for you. If your internet service provider is Cox Cable at 3.2 mbps then you should [negotiate to get a faster speed] on both upload and download of your internet. Cox doesn't provide steamspeedtest to see their speeds so it's hard to really know if you are getting what they're advertising or not.
