Bobby Shmurda, known by the moniker Bobby Shmurda, is a rapper of Italian and Haitian descent. He was born in Brooklyn, New York and at 16 years old began rapping on the streets. In 2014 he signed to Epic Records; however a month later he was arrested for his alleged role in a $2 million drug conspiracy charge. On December 14, 2015 Bobby was sentenced to eight years in jail for weapons possession charges as well as conspiracy. Although Bobby is still a teenager, he has already made a name for himself in the music industry. Much of his success is attributed to the song Hot Nigga, which was uploaded on YouTube and has over 127 million views as of November 2015. The combination of his catchy lyrics and dance moves makes it easy to see why this one video has garnered so much attention. In fact, many people relate his song to the famous girl group Destiny Childs. At first Bobby did not intend to become a rapper. He started rapping on the streets to make money because he did not want to work a regular 9-5 job. However, he quickly learned that rap was actually his passion and decided to pursue it as a career. It has been reported that Bobby creates his own beats, which are recorded in an apartment located in East Flatbush. Furthermore, unlike many artists who use studio professionals to write their songs, Bobby writes all of his own lyrics.
